Frequently Asked Questions

Are your macarons gluten-free?

Our macarons are gluten-free unless specified. Our macarons however, are not produced in a gluten-free facility. This means that although we wash, rinse and sanitize our equipment before and after each baking session, there is still a possibility that traces of gluten can be found in the facility.

Our macarons that contain gluten only have gluten in the filling. Those gluten contained fillings are made separately from the other fillings.

But of course, before placing your order please inform your server if anyone in your party has a food allergy.

I have a nut allergy. Can I consume your cookies?

All of our macarons are made with almonds. However, depending on the flavor, other nuts may be used. While we wash and sanitize our equipment after each use, there is risk of cross contamination. Please let us know prior to placing your order if you have allergies of any kind.

We do offer a nut-free macaron which can be purchased (minimum quantity of 12). Just send us an email to do so!

Are your macarons vegan?

No. Our macarons are not vegan, however they are all vegetarian. We currently do not offer vegan macarons.

Where can I find your daily flavors?

During the COVID-19 pandemic crisis, we now upload and update our flavors on our online store. To visit, click here.

Do you ship your macarons or macacakes?

We ship our macarons in packaging that will hold up its delicate nature, along with an ice pack. (It is OK if the ice pack is melted by the time of receipt). However, we may refuse an order for shipping if we simply do not believe that the macarons will withstand the heat of its' destination.

With that being said, we are not responsible for the delivery location of the macarons. For example, If the temperature is warm and your mail is delivered at 1 PM but you do not get home until 5 PM we do not recommend that you have the macarons delivered at home. To avoid excess heat exposure, have these macarons delivered at work, or where someone can receive them.

We use UPS and USPS Priority Mail.

macacakes are not available for shipment.

I've received the macarons, how long do they keep fresh?

We recommend that the macarons be immediately placed in the freezer to chill before consumption. Even a quick 15 minutes will do, just to ensure any heat that the macarons have been exposed to is rid of by the time you eat them.

Macarons should be kept in the fridge or freezer in an air tight container. Allow 3-5 days for refrigeration and up to 30 days in the freezer. Macarons only need to come to room temperature about 15 minutes. For those with chocolate ganache fillings, allow up to 30 minutes.

MacaCakes should be consumed within 3 days of receipt. You may freeze the MacaCake up to one week. If taken from the fridge, allow the MacaCake to come to room temperature up to 30 minutes. If from the freezer, up to one hour.

Where are you located out of?

We bake and sell all our macarons at Bow Market, located at 1 Bow Market Way in Somerville, MA.

I have an event in mind, how much notice do you require?

We typically ask for two week's notice on all macarons. However, we can now fulfill surprise me assortments upon demand. Larger and/or custom orders take more time and therefore we ask that you provide us as much notice as possible. Basically, the sooner that you make us aware, the better!

We would love to be a part of your special day whether it be birthday, just because or wedding, but help us be there for you by letting us know as soon as possible!

Do you offer gift cards?

Yes! You may purchase an online e-gift card (see link above), or request for a plastic gift card which you may purchase in store at Bow Market.

What are your methods of payment?

We accept maca gift cards, American Express, Visa, Mastercard, Discover, Cash, Smart Pay and Venmo. Custom Orders are paid upfront as contractual agreement for goods being produced.

For large orders (i.e. weddings), we require a nonrefundable deposit to secure the date. This deposit is to be applied to the final invoice once all details have been secured. Remaining payments must be completed as soon as final RSVP's have been received.
